I woke up early the other morning. It was still dark outside. I lay there thinking about what I would write for this week’s column. My mind wandered. I thought about things I have been through in my life. Problems, mistakes, and screw-ups have been many. I am a blessed man to have my family, my home, and my health.
Turning my head toward the window, the sun was coming up, and it was beautiful. I have watched the sunrise during spring, waiting for a turkey to answer my calls. I have watched the sun come up from a boat while fishing on a summer morning. I have watched the sun come up on fall hikes through colorful forests. I have watched the sun rising from a deer stand on a crisp winter morning. I have watched the sun come up many mornings during the year as I stirred the campfire while on a camping trip.
Many mornings, I have watched the sun come up out of my home office window as I work on writing a story. I have stepped outdoors every season of the year, camera in hand, to capture the beauty of the sun coming up. The only times you may not see the sun coming up are when it is cloudy or the storms of life keep you from seeing it.
Life can be stressful at times. Just watching the news on television can depress you. A lot of things on your smartphone or computer can do the same. Maybe something is going on in your life that is worrying you and bringing you down. Get up early and watch a sunrise.
The phrase the sun still comes up in the morning, is a powerful metaphor for perseverance and hope. It can convey that despite challenges or setbacks in your life, a fresh start always remains. It is up to you to make that fresh start happen.
It also suggests that even when things seem difficult, there is still a chance for improvement. The rising sun is a symbol of hope. It represents a new day, a fresh start, and a chance for things to change. Even after facing difficulties, there is still an opportunity for positive outcomes.
Keep moving forward even when facing challenges. The cycle of life continues. There may be moments of darkness or difficulty, but the sun still rises. Change is a natural part of life, just like the sun coming up in the morning. It may be hard to believe that right now, but things will eventually improve.
The Bible often uses the sun’s daily rising to show God’s presence, power, and faithfulness. Malachi 4:2 says, “But for my followers, goodness will shine on you like the rising sun. It will bring healing power like the sun’s rays.”
There is always the opportunity for you to have a new beginning and a brighter future. Get up in the morning and watch the sunrise. Even in your darkest moments, God and his son Jesus are there for you. The sun still comes up in the morning.
