The autumn season of our lives can be a mixture of nostalgia, blessings, and potential. It yields the harvest of seeds we’ve sown throughout life and braces us for colder days to come. When that time arrives, we look back and better understand how God led us. Do not rest. You have work to do and seeds to sow.
How do you enjoy this time in your life? Keep your focus on God. Psalms 90:1-2 says “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God”.
There is a lot of unwelcome change in our world. Moral and societal changes bother us when we turn on our television or look at social media on our smartphones. We are painfully aware our kids and grandkids are growing up in a world much different from the one we knew as children.
The passing of friends or family. The steady decline in our vitality and health. All this reminds us that our lives are changing. But amid all these changes, God never changes. His truth, ways, and purposes do not change. His son Jesus does not change either. Hebrews 13:8 says He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
The world may be a mess, the seasons in our life may change, and winter is coming for all of us, or already here. But the God who has been our help in ages past is our hope for years to come. In Him, we have joy unshakable and life unending.
Any time in your life is a great time to focus on God’s blessings. Our family, friends, strength, shelter, provision, opportunities to serve, more time to pray and study His word, our eternal life still to come, and being a part of this special place called Sac River Cowboy Church.
Focus on your commitment to God. Some of the saddest words in the Bible are in Jeremiah 8:20, “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” As a follower of Christ, remain close to Him. Remember you are just one step closer to home. None of us know when that time will come. If you are not a follower of Jesus, it is not too late to do so before tomorrow never comes.
If you or someone you know is looking for a church home we invite you to join us at the Sac River Cowboy Church at either of our locations: 6821 W Independence Dr. Springfield MO 65802 on Sunday morning at 8:30 and 10:00 or our Event Center at 6448 State Highway EE Springfield MO 65802 on Sunday morning at 10:00 and 11:30 or Thursday evening at 6:00pm with dinner served.
