A Season Of Changes

September is a month of changes. During the latter part of the month, the summer starts to fade into the fall season. The leaves of the trees begin to change from the green of summer to the beautiful colors of autumn. Squirrels bury acorns, to hopefully, find them again during the cold of winter.

Fields, forests, and your backyard feeders change with the addition of migrating birds joining birds that have been around all summer. Most hummingbirds have left for their journey south. Geese fly overhead in their V-formations heading in the same direction. Pull up a seat in your yard or on your porch. Take a walk in the neighborhood or the woods. Enjoy the show.

If you love hunting and fishing like I do, it changes too. Fish feed aggressively preparing for winter. They respond to the fisherman’s offerings. Deer have an urgency to mate. Hunters sit in trees or blinds waiting for them to come by. It is a wonderful time to take a hike. Maybe even pitch a tent, set around a campfire, or look up into a night sky filled with millions of twinkling stars and thank God for all your blessings. Talk to Him. He is there and He is listening.

Many people have discovered that God’s great outdoors is a great place to get away from the screens of smartphones, computers, and televisions that consume so much of our time. It is also great for your health both body and mind. In this month of changes, why not get outdoors to see all those changes? You may never feel closer to God. The outdoors that God created, can help change your life for the better. It did mine and it can do the same for you.

Maybe it is working the fields on your tractor, putting up firewood for the cold days to come, or just working in your yard. Maybe, you are not an outdoorsy person at all and that’s okay too. Maybe, it is a time that you start making changes in your life. Read your bible more, pray more, or volunteer to serve at church more. Most importantly, maybe it is finding time for you to tell others about Jesus. It will change their life for the better. What changes will you make in your life, during this season of changes?
