There are over 200 million professed Christians in the United States. Would you believe 2 out of 5 Christians fail to vote in Presidential elections? 1 out of 5 Christians are not even registered to vote. Shame on us!
Watching the TV news, listening to talk radio shows, or reading about all the politics on our computer or smartphone can make us mad or even depressed. But, as Christians we can’t just ignore the election process. We need to bring the values of our faith into the election process.
Voting is a privilege. Not many other countries of the world have that privilege. It was won and protected by the shed blood of patriots. Do not ever take that for granted. Those who reap the benefits of living in America should play a part in upholding America.
Each vote will make a difference in the cumulative number of votes a candidate receives. That is how we, as Christians, are to help influence our society for good. Voting recognizes the equality of all citizens and their right to express their values through their votes.
Voting is a simple yet significant way to do something about public policy in our country. As people of faith, we will be held accountable for our actions. Also our lack of action.
Voting is a part of stewardship, where we use all the resources God gave us in ways that honor Him. To waste a vote is to squander a gift. Not voting is a form of voting. By not voting, you are giving the candidate you might not want to see elected two votes. Edmund Burke once said – All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. Christians should vote as led through prayer and study of the word of God and the realities of the choices on the ballot.
I am not telling you who or what to vote for but I am asking you to learn what each candidate stands for and how each amendment will affect lives. Pray about it, then make sure you go vote. If you already have – THANK YOU!
May God bless America!
